It’s National Volunteer Week - how do you volunteer?

This week all across Canada, communities are celebrating National Volunteer Week. For a list of volunteer opportunities in Revelstoke, visit the Revelstoke Volunteers site.

In Revelstoke, we would like to honour and thank all the volunteers who are committed to continuing to make Revelstoke the great place we all know and love.

This week, in partnership with the Revelstoke Times Review, we have put together a special insert that highlights volunteerism in our community - if you don’t have a subscription, be sure to pick up a paper! Thanks to all the people who contributed articles and photos and to Rob Buchanan for the hilarious cartoon! And thanks to the Times Review for being a great community partner.

As well, we would to announce the spring intake of the Spirit of Revelstoke Award. THE SPIRIT OF REVELSTOKE AWARD program recognizes citizens who have made outstanding volunteer contributions to our community. Please find enclosed the nomination form for your convenience. Once again, awards will be given out at the Volunteer Fair next fall.

If this doesn’t get you jazzed up about summer, we can’t help you. Check out this amazing Kona video, and make sure to read through the article as well for some incredible pics. Which trail do you prefer, Frisby Ridge or Keystone?

If you ski in the Golden area, this video is a great reminder that you’ve got to know what the snowpack is doing where you are before you commit to terrain. In the Monashees and Selkirks, we’ve had a bit more snow with less wind, leaving the Feb. 3/4 surface hoar layer intact. It lit up last week with avlanahces up to size 2.5. Make sure to check the avalanche forecast for your region at avalanche.ca/cac/bulletins/latest.

Love this video! Drool over the skiing, the location and the cinematography  David stayed on our couch for a night and was an exceptionally charming houseguest. No surprise, since his sister Clare is one of Revelstoke’s most incredible ladies.
