Open Mic Night tonight at the Last Drop

Posted in Life in Revelstoke on December 30th, 2009 by karilyn – 2 Comments

Local talent has a chance to strut their stuff tonight. The Last Drop pub will be holding their first Open Mic session tonight, and are hoping to make it a weekly event. Drop by the Last Drop tonight from 8:30 onwards to jam, sing, read poetry, tell a joke, or just listen to others do the same.

The Maritime Kitchen Party will be hosting tonight’s inaugural Open Mic, and they’re hoping to make it a big success in order to keep live performances like this going in Revelstoke.

Happy Holidays from The Stoke!

It’s been an amazing season so far at Revelstoke Mountain Resort. Our snow has been great in quality and quantity, and even though we’re in a bit of a dry spell, it’s been wonderful to have a few perfect bluebird days.
I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas, and has had lots of time to get outside to enjoy the snow. How has your winter been so far? What have been your favourite lines? Where are you calling home? Share your stories with us at The Stoke!
Here’s a sick video of Chris Rubens slaying it here in Revy over the last week. I love seeing him on the mountain - he picks amazing lines!

Candlelight Vigil for Climate Action - December 12 at Grizzly Plaza

Posted in Life in Revelstoke on December 12th, 2009 by karilyn – 2 Comments

The North Columbia Environmental Society invites citizens of Revelstoke to join in a candlelight vigil in support of climate action at Grizzly Plaza from 6:30, December 12.

Scheduled to occur in the middle of the two-week 15th annual United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, this vigil will be one of thousands occurring worldwide.

Initiated by the international climate action campaign, these vigils will reinforce the original message sent to world leaders on Oct24th, International Climate Action Day – that immediate action must be taken to reduce atmospheric CO2 from the current concentration of 390 parts per million (ppm) to the scientifically-proven “safe upper limit” of 350 ppm.

A candlelit human formation of this critical number, 350, will be photographed and sent to 350.org in support of their movement. The evening of December 12th, gear up in your warm winter clothes, grab a candle or headlamp, and come to Grizzly Plaza to support the climate action movement!
