First day on the Ripper Chair at Revelstoke Mountain Resort
Posted in Revelstoke Mountain Resort on February 20th, 2008 by karilyn – 1 CommentThose who braved the frigid temperatures this morning got to ride some of the first chairs on Revelstoke Mountain Resort’s new Ripper Chair. A few people expressed some trepidation at riding a brand new lift in the wake of Blackcomb’s gondy accident, but what kept most people away was the cold.
RMR promises 900 acres of glades serviced by the Ripper Chair, but they’re not ready to go yet. The trees are still quite dense, so the hill is lacking solid coverage through them. The snow under the lift line was soft - a little bit grabby, but some of the best I’ve skied in a while. Some strange terrain on the groomers though - there are some incredibly fun rollers all over the place. One spot on Chopper actually requires a hard skate UPHILL. It’ll fill in with more snow, but today I had a few good giggles at those born with only one board.
The only busy place on the mountain today was the Day Lodge. It was C-C-C-COLD.
